The KENNAMETAL 2405373 is a solid carbide milling insert in the SEPT series, designed for high-performance metal removal in CNC and manual milling operations. Carrying the ISO designation SEPT1404AEENGB2 and ANSI code SEPT443AEEN7GB2, this insert features a square shape with four cutting edges, a neutral hand orientation, and a positive rake geometry. The KCPK30 grade substrate is CVD-coated with a multilayer TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 stack, providing wear resistance and thermal stability across a range of demanding workpiece materials. The GB2 chip breaker geometry supports controlled chip evacuation during interrupted and continuous cuts.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, covering material grades P, M, K, and S. It is intended for use in screw-retained toolholders accepting SEPT-series inserts. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and pocket milling on production machining centers in aerospace, energy, and general metalworking environments. Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the spindle fully stopped and machine power locked out. Seat the insert firmly against the toolholder pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque using the appropriate Torx or hex key. Inspect the seating pocket for chips or debris before installing a new insert, as contamination can cause premature edge failure or insert breakage. Follow your facility's tooling change procedures and applicable machine safety standards.
