The KENNAMETAL 2390261 is a solid carbide milling insert in the SEKT series, designed for indexable milling operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. It carries the KC725M manufacturer grade and features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering thermal resistance and edge durability in demanding cutting environments. The square insert geometry provides four usable cutting edges, and the GP2 chip breaker geometry promotes positive rake cutting action. Thickness measures 0.1875 inches and the inscribed circle diameter is 0.5512 inches. Corner radius is 0.0394 inches (1.00 mm). This insert is installed by machinists and tooling technicians on CNC milling platforms using compatible cutter bodies.
This insert is suited for face milling and shoulder milling applications on steel and stainless steel components in both production and job-shop environments. It is compatible with KSSM series cutter bodies. The GP2 chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium-duty cuts in ferrous and difficult-to-machine materials including superalloys and titanium. The neutral hand orientation allows use in standard right-hand cutter configurations. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.5512 inches, making it appropriate for moderate stock removal passes in roughing and semi-finishing operations.
Designed for use with KSSM series indexable milling cutter bodies. Insert is single-sided with screw holding method. Cutter body must accept SEKT series inserts with a 0.1732-inch (0.17 mm nominal) screw hole diameter. Confirm insert pocket geometry matches SEKT1404 seating before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torx or hex key specified by the cutter body manufacturer when seating the clamping screw — do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket for wear, debris, or damage before seating each new insert to ensure proper seating and runout.
