Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 2390260 is a solid carbide square milling insert carrying ISO designation SEKT1404AEENGP2 and ANSI designation SEKT443AEEN7GP2. Manufactured to the KCPK30 grade with a CVD-applied TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 multilayer coating, this insert is built for productive face and shoulder milling in demanding materials. The square geometry provides four usable cutting edges per insert, and the positive rake geometry combined with a honed cutting edge style helps control cutting forces. A 1.00 mm (0.0394 inch) corner radius and GP2 chip breaker geometry support chip control across a range of steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloy applications. Installation is by screw-clamp into compatible toolholders.

This insert is designed for use in face milling and shoulder milling operations on machining centers and milling machines in both production and job-shop environments. It is compatible with the KENNAMETAL KSSM cutter series. Primary workpiece material grades covered are P (steel), M (stainless steel), K (cast iron), and S (superalloys and titanium), making it a versatile choice for shops that run mixed-material work. The neutral hand orientation allows use in a range of cutter pocket configurations within its compatible cutter series.

Key Features

  • KCPK30 solid carbide grade with CVD multilayer coating: TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 for wear and heat resistance
  • Square insert shape with 90-degree included angle and four cutting edges for low cost-per-edge
  • Positive rake geometry with honed cutting edge for reduced cutting forces on difficult materials
  • GP2 chip breaker optimized for steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloy or titanium cutting
  • 1.00 mm corner radius for a balance of edge strength and surface finish
  • Screw-clamp holding method compatible with KSSM cutter series toolholders

Compatibility

Designed for use in the KENNAMETAL KSSM cutter series. Compatible with workpiece material grades P, M, K, and S per ISO classification. Conforms to ANSI and ISO insert standards.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by a machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the machine is locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and tighten the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturer's specified torque. Inspect the pocket seat and screw threads for wear or damage before each insert change to maintain secure clamping and accurate tool geometry.
