The KENNAMETAL 2390254 is a solid carbide milling insert in the SPCT series, designed for indexable milling tool bodies used in metal cutting operations. Carrying ISO designation SPCT10T3PPERLD2 and manufactured in grade KC725M, this insert features a PVD-applied TiN/TiCN/TiN multilayer coating for wear resistance and thermal stability at the cutting edge. The square insert geometry includes a right-hand orientation, an 11-degree relief angle, and an LD2 chip breaker configuration. It measures 0.5512 inches inscribed circle diameter and 0.1563 inches thick, with a corner radius of 0.0315 inches (1/32 inch). Installation is performed by licensed machinists and tooling technicians working with CNC or manual milling platforms.
This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces, covering material grade classifications C5, C6, and C7 (ISO material codes P, M, and S). The KC725M grade with PVD coating is well suited for demanding milling applications where edge toughness and coating adhesion are critical, including finishing and semi-finishing passes on difficult-to-machine alloys. The LD2 chip breaker promotes chip control across a range of feed rates and depths. Maximum depth of cut reaches 0.5510 inches. This insert is secured by screw clamping into compatible SPCT-series milling tool bodies.
Designed for use in SPCT-series indexable milling tool bodies accepting SPCT10T3 insert geometry with screw-style clamping. Verify seat and screw specifications against the tool body manufacturer documentation before installation.
Indexable insert replacement is performed by qualified machinists or tooling technicians. Disengage and lock out all machine power before accessing the tool body. Use the correct torx or hex key for the clamping screw and follow the tool body manufacturer torque guidelines. Inspect the insert seat for wear or debris before seating the new insert, and confirm the insert is fully seated and indexed before resuming cutting operations.
