The KENNAMETAL 2383560 is a solid carbide milling insert in the SDCT series, designed for high-performance metal removal in demanding machining applications. This insert carries the ISO designation SDCT120416ENLD2 and is finished with a multilayer PVD coating of TiN, TiCN, and TiN, giving it the KC725M grade classification. The square insert geometry features a 90-degree included angle, a neutral hand orientation, a 1/16-inch corner radius, and a 15-degree relief angle. At 3/16 inches thick and 0.5 inches inscribed circle diameter, it is sized for mid-range milling toolholders. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians install this insert in screw-clamped milling bodies.
This insert is optimized for cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material groups P, M, and S. The LD2 chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation across these material families. It is suited to face milling, shoulder milling, and slotting operations on CNC machining centers in both production and job-shop environments. The KC725M grade and PVD coating combination supports applications where edge toughness and wear resistance must be balanced, particularly when cutting difficult-to-machine alloys at moderate to aggressive parameters.
Designed for use in SDCT-series screw-clamped milling toolholders that accept a square insert with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, 3/16-inch thickness, and 0.1732-inch hole diameter. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert seat dimensions before installation.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque driver for the clamping screw to avoid stripping the insert hole or damaging the pocket seat — refer to the toolholder manufacturer's torque specification. Inspect the pocket seat for chips or debris before installing a new insert, as contamination will affect seating accuracy and tool life.
