The KENNAMETAL 2275084 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision groove turning and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, it delivers strong wear resistance and thermal stability in demanding cutting conditions. The insert carries a KC5010 manufacturer grade, features a GMN chip breaker geometry, and has a neutral hand orientation. With a cutting width of 4.76 mm (0.1874 inches) and a maximum depth of cut of 3.50 mm (0.1378 inches), it is suited to tight-tolerance grooving work in steel, cast iron, and similar materials rated C3 and C4 on the material grade scale. Installation and tool setup is performed by machining professionals and CNC operators.
This insert is intended for use in grooving applications on metalworking lathes and turning centers, particularly where consistent chip control is critical. The GMN chip breaker geometry helps manage chip evacuation in shallow to medium-depth grooves. It fits Series A4 toolholders with an insert seat size of 4. The insert size is 04, and the overall length is 0.7874 inches. It is suitable for production and job-shop environments requiring repeatable groove geometry and surface finish.
Designed for use with Series A4 grooving toolholders requiring an insert seat size of 4. The manufacturer catalog number for cross-reference is A4G187I04P2GMN. Verify seat size and series compatibility with your specific toolholder before installation.
Insert changes and toolholder setup should be performed by qualified machinists or CNC operators with the machine fully stopped and locked out per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use the correct torx or clamp screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert without over-torquing the clamping mechanism. Inspect the insert seat for chips or contamination before seating a new insert, as debris can cause improper seating and premature edge failure. Never run a visibly chipped or cracked insert.
