The KENNAMETAL 2273388 is a solid carbide milling insert in the EDPT series, designed for indexable face and shoulder milling operations. Carrying the ISO designation EDPT180548PDERGD and manufactured to the KC725M grade, this insert features a TiAlN PVD coating applied over a solid carbide substrate, delivering heat resistance and wear performance suited to interrupted and continuous cuts. The insert has a parallelogram shape with a 70-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry, a honed cutting edge, and the GD chip breaker. Thickness is 0.217 inches and the inscribed circle measures 0.426 inches. Two cutting edges are available per insert, and the holding method is screw-clamped.
This insert is intended for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, covering material grade codes P, M, and S. The positive rake and GD chip breaker combination supports controlled chip evacuation when machining these demanding materials in production environments. It is compatible with the Mill 1-18 cutter series and is suited for both CNC machining centers and manual milling equipment where EDPT-style toolholders are used. Installation is right-hand orientation. The ANSI code is EP1848E and the ISO code matches the insert designation EDPT180548PDERGD. Inspect the cutter pocket seating surface for chips or debris before installation, as contamination will affect insert position and edge runout.
