The KENNAMETAL 2271119 is a solid carbide milling insert with ISO designation EDPT180508PDERGD and manufacturer grade KC725M. It features a parallelogram shape with a 70-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry, and a GD chip breaker designed to control chip flow during high-demand cutting operations. The insert carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which delivers thermal resistance and wear life across a range of workpiece materials. At 0.217 inches thick and 0.432 inches in inscribed circle diameter, it is a single-sided, right-hand insert secured by screw clamping. Licensed machinists, CNC mill operators, and tool and die technicians are the primary installers.
This insert is engineered for milling steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, corresponding to ISO material grades P, M, and S. It is compatible with the KENNAMETAL Mill 1-18 cutter series and is identified by ANSI code EP1808E. Typical applications include face milling, shoulder milling, and general metal removal operations in both production and job-shop environments. The insert size code is 1808, and it is offered in a minimum order quantity of 5 units per package.
Designed for use with the KENNAMETAL Mill 1-18 cutter series. ISO code EDPT180508PDERGD and ANSI code EP1808E confirm fitment with toolholders specifying insert size code 1808 and the EDPT series geometry.
Installation is performed by CNC machinists or tool room technicians following standard indexable insert procedures. Before indexing or replacing inserts, fully de-energize the machine spindle and engage all axis locks per shop safety protocol. Use the manufacturer-specified torx or hex key to torque the clamping screw to the toolholder specification — do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate. Inspect the pocket seat and clamping screw threads for wear or contamination before seating a new insert.
