The KENNAMETAL 2271091 is a solid carbide milling insert with a TiB2 (Titanium Diboride) PVD coating, designed for high-performance milling of non-ferrous metals. Conforming to ISO code EDCT180532PDFRLDJ and ANSI code EC1832FJ, this insert features a parallelogram shape with a 70-degree included angle, a positive rake geometry, and a sharp cutting edge style. The corner radius measures 0.125 inches (1/8 inch), and the insert carries a manufacturer grade of KC410M. It is single-sided with 2 cutting edges and is held in place by a screw-lock method. Licensed HVAC, plumbing, and machining professionals working with non-ferrous workpiece materials will find this insert suited to demanding milling operations.
This insert is intended for use in non-ferrous metal milling applications, including aluminum, copper, and similar materials where a sharp, positive-rake geometry minimizes built-up edge and promotes clean chip evacuation. It is compatible with the Mill 1-18 cutter series and is suited for both production and maintenance machining environments. The right-hand cutting orientation and LD chip breaker geometry support controlled chip flow in high-speed milling passes. Each package contains 1 insert, with a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Compatible with the Mill 1-18 cutter series. Designed as a direct-fit replacement or replenishment insert for toolholders accepting EDCT series inserts per ANSI and ISO insert standards.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician using the appropriate torx or hex key for the screw-lock retention system. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the tool is secured in a vise or tool block before seating or replacing inserts. Inspect the insert pocket for debris or damage before installation to ensure proper seating and runout. Follow the toolholder manufacturer guidelines for screw torque and insert orientation.
