The KENNAMETAL 2267620 is an indexable square-shoulder face mill designed for precision milling operations on machining centers and horizontal mills. Built around the Mill 1-18 series platform, this cutter accepts 12 inserts in EC18.. and EP18.. styles, enabling high-feed square-shoulder profiling at a 0/90 lead angle. The 8-inch cutting diameter and 0.71-inch maximum depth of cut make it well suited to wide-face roughing and semi-finishing passes on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces. Right-hand cutting direction and a 2.5-inch arbor hole diameter position this tool for use on larger spindle-nose machines. Inserts are secured by clamp and screw, providing reliable edge retention under aggressive cutting conditions.
This face mill is used in production and job-shop environments where square-shoulder milling of flat surfaces, steps, and shoulders is required. Typical applications include aerospace, die-and-mold, and general metalworking where a consistent 90-degree wall and flat floor are critical. The 12-insert configuration supports high material-removal rates while distributing cutting loads evenly across the cutter body. A 1.01-inch keyway width provides positive drive engagement with the arbor, reducing slippage under heavy cuts. Coolant-through capability is not available on this body; external flood coolant or mist is the standard approach for chip evacuation and heat management.
Compatible with EC18.. and EP18.. series inserts within the KENNAMETAL Mill 1-18 platform. Requires a machine spindle or arbor with a 2.5-inch bore and a 1.01-inch keyway for proper drive engagement.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the cutter body. Verify arbor bore and keyway dimensions match the cutter before assembly, and confirm all insert clamp screws are properly torqued per the insert manufacturer specification sheet before initiating a cut. Inspect inserts for chipping or wear at regular intervals and replace as a matched set when index positions are exhausted.
