The KENNAMETAL 2252796 is a coarse-pitch indexable chamfer angle face mill designed for high-productivity milling operations on machining centers and mill-turn equipment. The cutter accepts 8 OF.T64 inserts held by screw clamp, spans a minimum cutting diameter of 4 inches up to a maximum body diameter of 4.431 inches, and delivers a maximum depth of cut of 5 mm (0.197 inches). Through-coolant capability supports extended insert life and chip evacuation in both ferrous and non-ferrous applications. Weighing 3.748 pounds, the KSOM-series body mounts on a 1-1/4 inch arbor hole and is suited for medium to large machining centers running the right-hand cutting direction. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers of this tool.
The 2252796 is built for face milling and chamfering operations in production environments where consistent surface finish and insert economy are priorities. The coarse pitch and 8-flute configuration support aggressive material removal rates while the KSOM series geometry manages cutting forces across cast iron, carbon steel, and alloy steel workpieces. With a maximum spindle speed rating of 6,300 RPM, this cutter is appropriate for medium-duty horizontal and vertical machining center spindles where a 1-1/4 inch arbor interface is available. Shops running high-volume part runs benefit from the standardized OF.T64 insert platform shared across the KSOM line.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement and standard production tool within the KSOM series, accepting OF.T64 inserts. Specific machine or workholding compatibility depends on the presence of a 1-1/4 inch arbor with a 0.5189-inch keyway width on the host spindle or arbor adapter.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Confirm the spindle or arbor is fully de-energized and the machine is locked out before mounting or removing the cutter body. Verify the arbor hole, keyway, and drawbar engagement meet the machine tool manufacturer specifications before applying clamping force. Insert pockets should be cleaned and inspected before seating new OF.T64 inserts, and insert screws should be torqued per KENNAMETAL tooling documentation supplied with the cutter.
