The KENNAMETAL 2250771 is a solid carbide turning insert in the CNGG430FS geometry with KC5010 grade, designed for high-precision finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, and superalloys. The insert features a TiAlN PVD coating that delivers high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials including cast iron and aluminum alloys. It carries an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0039-inch corner radius suited for fine surface finish work. With four usable cutting edges and a neutral hand orientation, this insert is compatible with KENLOC-style toolholders using clamp and pin holding methods. Licensed machinists and CNC turning specialists install this insert in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is rated for turning, facing, and boring applications. The FS chip breaker geometry is optimized for finishing cuts with a maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches (1.25 mm). The KC5010 grade is positioned for high wear resistance to moderate wear resistance and toughness across steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous (N), and superalloys and titanium (S) workpiece material categories. It is a practical multi-use insert for shops running varied material types on CNC turning centers and manual lathes.
Designed for use with KENLOC-style toolholders accepting CNGG-geometry inserts with clamp and pin holding. Compatible insert size code is 4302 (ANSI) and 120401 (ISO). Suitable for multi-use applications including turning, facing, and boring. Primary workpiece material codes P, M, K, N, and S are supported per grade characteristics.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or indexing the insert. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping surfaces are clean and free of chips before placing the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw and verify insert seating before resuming cutting operations.
