The KENNAMETAL 2249717 is an ER40 collet chuck with a CAT50 taper shank, designed for CNC machining centers and milling applications requiring a rigid, high-accuracy tool-holding solution. It accepts ER40 collets with a capacity range of 3.05 mm (0.120 inches) to 26 mm (1.024 inches), covering a wide range of cutting tool shank sizes. The chuck features a 6-inch projection from gauge line and an overall length of 10 inches, making it suited for operations that require extended reach. Through-spindle and DIN flange coolant delivery is supported, directing coolant directly to the cutting zone for improved chip evacuation and tool life. The actuator type is wrench, and the chuck is balanced to 12,000 RPM for stable operation at high spindle speeds. Installation and setup are performed by machining center operators and toolroom technicians.
This collet chuck is used in vertical and horizontal CNC machining centers equipped with CAT50 spindle interfaces. The 6-inch projection makes it appropriate for deep-pocket milling, cavity work, or setups where clearance between the spindle nose and the workpiece or fixture is required. Through-coolant capability is particularly useful in applications involving aluminum, steel, or cast iron where heat management and chip control are critical. The ER40 collet system is a widely adopted standard, giving this chuck broad utility across production and job-shop environments.
Designed for use with CAT50 spindle-interface machining centers and standard ER40 collets. Coolant compatibility includes through-spindle and DIN flange coolant systems.
Installation is performed by qualified machining center operators or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before mounting or removing the chuck. Use the appropriate CAT50 pull stud and torque the retention knob per the machine tool manufacturer specifications. Verify runout at the collet nose after installation using a dial test indicator before committing to production cuts.
