The KENNAMETAL 2249529 is a solid carbide milling insert designed for face and shoulder milling operations in demanding material removal applications. Manufactured to ISO code ADKT1035PDERLC and offered in the KC522M grade, this insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process for improved heat resistance and extended tool life at the cutting edge. The parallelogram insert shape with an 85-degree included angle and 7-degree rake angle provides positive cutting geometry suited for high-efficiency milling. At 0.1378 inches thick and 0.2638 inches wide, the insert is a compact, screw-held design with a right-hand cutting orientation. Licensed trade machinists and CNC tooling technicians install this insert in compatible milling tool bodies.
This insert is engineered for use across a broad range of workpiece materials, including steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and hard materials. The LC chip breaker geometry promotes controlled chip formation across these material groups, making it well suited for both roughing and finishing passes in production milling environments. Insert installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Always power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw specified by the tool body manufacturer — do not over-torque the clamping screw, as this can fracture the carbide insert. Inspect the insert pocket seat for debris or wear before seating the new insert to ensure proper contact and edge alignment.
