The KENNAMETAL 2244910 is a solid carbide turning insert in the VNMG330MS geometry, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process and offered in the KC5010 manufacturer grade. It carries a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a neutral hand orientation and is designed for external turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. The inscribed circle measures 0.375 inches, the corner radius is 0.0039 inches, and insert length is approximately 16.61 millimeters (1.3076 inches). With four usable cutting edges and a honed cutting edge style, it delivers consistent performance across roughing and medium machining passes. Licensed HVAC and metalworking professionals as well as CNC machinists install and index this insert in KENLOC-series toolholders.
This insert is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. The KC5010 grade is engineered for high wear-resistance to moderate wear-resistance and toughness across those material classes, making it a practical choice for production turning environments where tool life consistency matters. The MS chip breaker geometry supports roughing and medium machining chip control, reducing the risk of built-up edge and workpiece damage at moderate-to-aggressive feed rates. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 millimeters (0.0492 inches).
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders accepting VNMG-style inserts with clamp and pin holding. Conforms to ANSI insert code VNMG3302 and ISO insert code VNMG160401. Sold in multiples of 5; package quantity is 1 insert.
Index and install this insert with the machine powered down and the spindle fully stopped. Use the appropriate torque driver for the clamping screw — consult the toolholder manufacturer's documentation for the correct fastener torque. Inspect the toolholder pocket and locating pin for wear or debris before seating a new insert. Dispose of used carbide inserts according to local regulations governing metallic waste.
