The KENNAMETAL 2238569 is a replaceable-tip drill body from the KSEM series, designed for high-productivity hole-making in metalworking and machining applications. It accepts KSEM1250 inserts at an insert seat size of 8, allowing tip replacement without removing the body from the spindle. The drill covers a diameter range of 31.75 to 32 mm (1.2500 to 1.2598 inches) with a maximum drill depth of 95.25 mm (3.75 inches), delivering a 3xD depth-to-diameter ratio. Through-coolant capability is built in, with a coolant hole diameter of 5 mm (0.1969 inches). Overall length is 8.38 inches. The straight-cylindrical shank measures 31.75 mm in diameter and 82.55 mm (3.25 inches) in length. This tool body is installed by CNC machinists and toolroom professionals on machining centers and drill presses.
The 2238569 is suited for production drilling in ferrous and non-ferrous materials where consistent hole diameter and depth are required. The KSEM replaceable-tip system reduces downtime by allowing insert changes at the machine without disturbing setup. Through-coolant delivery supports chip evacuation and thermal management in deep-hole drilling cycles. The 3xD depth range and 4.97-inch flute length make this body appropriate for general-purpose production drilling in medium-to-large diameter applications on CNC machining centers.
Designed for use with KSEM1250 series replaceable drill tips at insert seat size 8. Part of the KENNAMETAL KSEM modular drill system.
Installation and insert changes should be performed with the machine powered down and the spindle locked. Ensure the insert seat is clean and free of chips before seating a new KSEM1250 tip, as debris under the insert can cause runout and premature tip failure. Through-coolant connections must be confirmed leak-free before initiating a drilling cycle. Follow the machine tool builder and KENNAMETAL tooling assembly guidelines for recommended clamping torque and spindle interface requirements.
