The KENNAMETAL 2235052 is an indexable square-shoulder face mill designed for precision milling operations on machining centers and CNC mills. Built around the Fix-Perfect series platform, this tool accepts BGHX 15L5 insert style inserts held by a clamp-style retention method. It features a 2-inch maximum cutting diameter, a 3/4-inch arbor hole for secure spindle mounting, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.394 inches. The 0/90 degree lead angle geometry enables true square-shoulder profiles and clean wall engagement. With a positive rake angle of 24 degrees, the tool geometry favors efficient chip formation and reduced cutting forces during steel and cast iron face milling applications.
This face mill is suited for horizontal and vertical machining center setups in production shops, toolrooms, and job shops handling ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. The right-hand cutting direction and three-insert configuration make it appropriate for medium-duty face milling and shoulder milling passes where a clean 90-degree wall-to-floor relationship is required. The 39.88 mm overall body height and 1.75-inch hub diameter accommodate standard arbor assemblies used in industrial machining environments. Licensed machinists and CNC operators are the primary installers of this tooling.
Designed for use with BGHX 15L5 insert style inserts. Mounts via a 3/4-inch arbor hole to standard milling arbors and shell mill holders used on CNC and manual machining centers. Specific machine or spindle compatibility depends on the arbor assembly selected.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or removing the face mill from the arbor. Confirm all inserts are properly seated and clamps are secured to the manufacturer torque specification before initiating any cut. Inspect insert edges for wear or chipping at each tool change to avoid surface finish degradation or workpiece damage.
