The KENNAMETAL 2226032 is a solid carbide, uncoated turning insert in the VNMG331MS geometry, part of the KENLOC series. It features a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape with a neutral hand orientation and a negative rake and side clearance configuration. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inch (0.3750 inch decimal), the insert length is 16.61 mm (0.6537 inches), and the corner radius is 1/64 inch (0.0156 inch). Grade K313 is engineered for high wear-resistance with moderate toughness across stainless steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous and aluminum workpiece materials. The MS chip breaker targets roughing and medium machining operations. Licensed machinists, CNC operators, and tool-and-die professionals are the primary users of this insert.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on non-ferrous metals, superalloys, titanium, stainless steel, and cast iron. The VNMG geometry with a negative rake is commonly used on rigid setups where cutting forces and tool life are primary concerns. Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. The machine spindle must be powered down and all motion stopped before indexing or replacing inserts.
