The KENNAMETAL 2210766 is a solid carbide octagon milling insert carrying ISO designation OFPT07L6AFSNHB and ANSI code OFPT64AFSN6HB. It is manufactured to KCPK30 grade and features a multilayer CVD coating stack of TiN, TiCN, and Al2O3 for extended wear resistance and thermal protection. The insert provides 8 cutting edges per single-sided body, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, and a chamfered and honed cutting edge style. Thickness is 0.2362 inches with a corner radius of 0.0472 inches (3/64 inch). It is intended for face milling and shoulder milling operations performed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for milling steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium workpieces, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, and S. It fits the KENNAMETAL KSOM cutter series and is selected for applications requiring controlled chip formation via the HB chip breaker geometry. Typical use scenarios include medium-duty face milling passes on machining centers where consistent edge life and predictable chip evacuation are required. The neutral hand designation makes it adaptable across standard right-hand tooling setups.
Designed for use in the KENNAMETAL KSOM cutter series. Insert style is OFPT with an inscribed circle of 0.7360 inches and a maximum depth of cut of 0.2950 inches. Compatible with toolholders accepting OFPT07L6AFSNHB or ANSI OFPT64AFSN6HB insert designations per ANSI and ISO standards.
Installation is performed by CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before changing inserts. Seat the insert firmly against all pocket locating surfaces before torquing the clamping screw to the toolholder specification. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris that could cause seating errors or premature edge failure before each insert change.
