The KENNAMETAL 2047453 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill insert designed for use in KSEM-series modular drill bodies. This insert features a 33.00mm (1.3126 inch) cutting diameter, a 140-degree drill point angle, and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. The fine-grain solid carbide construction paired with the KC7315 grade delivers wear resistance suitable for high-productivity steel drilling operations. The HP insert geometry and helical flute design support efficient chip evacuation in two-flute configurations. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in production or job-shop environments install this insert as a quick-change replacement tip within the KSEM modular system, reducing downtime versus regrinding solid drills.
This insert is intended for primary use in steel workpieces (ISO material group P). Typical applications include through-hole and blind-hole drilling in production machining environments. The KSEM platform supports specialized drilling scenarios such as inclined exit surfaces and stacked plate drilling, making this insert applicable to structural fabrication, general metalworking, and precision machining operations where consistent hole quality and tool life are priorities. The clamp-style insert holding method ensures secure seating in compatible KSEM drill bodies during high-feed operations.
Designed for use with KSEM-series modular drill bodies accepting insert seat size 9. Primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P). Compatible applications include inclined exit drilling and stacked plate drilling as noted in the product specification data.
Installation of replaceable carbide drill tips should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool holder secured before removing or seating the insert. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw specified by the KSEM system tooling documentation to avoid over-torquing the clamp, which can fracture the carbide tip. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before seating a new tip, as contamination can cause runout and premature insert failure.
