The KENNAMETAL 2047446 is a carbide replaceable tip drill in the KSEM series, designed for high-performance hole-making in steel and other ferrous workpiece materials. The drill accepts a solid carbide KSEM tip with an HP insert geometry and a size 7 insert seat, secured by a clamp-style holding method. It runs a 140-degree included angle standard point and a regular helical spiral with 2 flutes and 2 margins. The TiAlN coating is applied via PVD process, delivering heat resistance and wear life in demanding production drilling environments. Licensed machinists and tooling specialists will recognize this as a modular system that separates body cost from tip replacement.
The KSEM series body with part number 2047446 is used in CNC machining centers and drill presses where modular tooling reduces per-hole cost. It is suited to applications including straight-entry drilling, inclined exit drilling, and stacked-plate drilling in steel. The 1-1/8 inch (28.58 mm) cutting diameter and 14.00 mm flute length make it appropriate for shallow-to-moderate depth holes in production environments. Coolant is not delivered through the body on this configuration. The manufacturer grade is KC7315 with a fine-grain solid carbide tip material.
Designed for use with KSEM series size 7 HP replaceable carbide tips. The body is rated for primary workpiece material code P (steel). Confirm tip grade and geometry selection against your specific workpiece material and machine spindle interface before use.
Installation and tip changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the machine fully powered down and the spindle locked. Use the appropriate KSEM torque key or clamp tool to seat and secure the replaceable tip according to the tooling system procedure. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for chips or debris before seating a new tip. Follow your facility safety protocols and machine tool manufacturer guidelines for tool assembly and runout verification.
