The KENNAMETAL 2047423 is a KSEM-series carbide replaceable tip drill designed for precision hole-making in steel and similar ferrous materials. The tip carries a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which supports heat resistance and edge life during high-performance drilling cycles. The drill point is ground to a 140-degree included angle with a standard point type and helical fluting, producing clean entry and controlled chip evacuation. The cutting diameter is 19.5mm (0.7677 inches) with a flute length of 10mm (0.3937 inches). It uses a clamp-style insert holding method and seats in an insert seat size 2 body. This part is handled by tooling specialists and machinists in production and job-shop environments.
The 2047423 tip is built for demanding drilling applications including inclined surface entry, stacked plate drilling, and standard through-hole operations in steel workpieces. The HP insert geometry is optimized for chip control and cutting efficiency in P-grade materials (ISO material classification for steel). The regular spiral flute pattern supports stable cutting action at recommended feeds and speeds for carbide tooling. This tip is a component of the KSEM modular drill system, where the replaceable carbide tip threads or clamps into a compatible steel shank body, allowing tip changes without removing the full holder from the spindle.
Designed for use in the KSEM modular drill system with insert seat size 2 bodies. Compatible applications include drilling in primary workpiece material grade P (steel). Specific shank body compatibility should be verified against KSEM system tooling charts prior to ordering.
Installation and tip replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician following the machine tool manufacturer lockout and spindle-stop procedures before handling any rotating tooling. Use the correct torque wrench and clamp hardware specified for the KSEM seat size 2 system - do not use substitute fasteners. Confirm tip seating and clamp engagement before resuming spindle operation. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for wear or debris at each tip change.
