The KENNAMETAL 2047418 is a solid carbide replaceable tip drill in the KSEM series, designed for high-productivity drilling in steel and other P-category workpiece materials. The tip features a TiAlN PVD coating applied over a fine grain carbide substrate with the KC7315 manufacturer grade, delivering wear resistance and thermal stability under demanding cutting conditions. The HP insert geometry is engineered to manage chip formation and reduce cutting forces. This drill accepts a size 2 insert seat and is held in place by a clamp mechanism. Cutting diameter is 18.26mm (23/32 inches), with a 140-degree drill point angle and a standard point type. Licensed machinists and CNC operators install this tip in compatible KSEM drill bodies.
The KSEM replaceable tip system is suited for production drilling environments where tip changes must be fast and repeatable without scrapping the drill body. This tip is intended for use in steel applications including inclined entry and exit surfaces, stacked plate configurations, and conventional through-hole drilling. The 2-flute, 2-margin helical flute design supports stable cutting in ferrous materials. Coolant-through capability is not included in this tip configuration. Typical applications include job shops, aerospace subcontractors, and automotive production cells running steel components on CNC machining centers or drill presses.
Designed for use with KSEM series drill bodies accepting a size 2 insert seat. Compatible primary workpiece material is steel (ISO material code P). Specific compatible drill body part numbers were not provided in the available product data.
Replacement of the carbide tip should be performed by a qualified machinist or toolroom technician with the machine powered down and locked out per applicable machine safety procedures. Use the correct torque wrench and Kennametal-specified clamp screw to seat the tip; do not exceed the fastener specification provided in the KSEM system tooling guide. Inspect the insert seat and clamping surfaces for damage or debris before installing a new tip. Verify cutting diameter and runout after installation before returning the tool to production.
