The KENNAMETAL 2047416 is a replaceable carbide drill tip designed for the KSEM modular drilling system. Built from solid carbide with a fine grain substrate and a PVD-applied TiAlN coating, it delivers wear resistance and thermal stability during metal cutting operations. The tip measures 0.6875 inches (17.46 mm) in cutting diameter with a 140-degree included point angle and a helical, 2-flute geometry. It seats into an Insert Seat Size 1 holder using a clamp-style retention method. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling technicians install this tip as part of a modular drill assembly used in production and job-shop environments.
This tip is rated for primary workpiece materials classified under ISO material code P, which covers carbon steels, alloy steels, and cast steels. Application data supports use in standard through-drilling as well as more demanding scenarios including inclined-exit drilling and stacked-plate drilling. The 2-flute, 2-margin helical flute design promotes chip evacuation and hole straightness across those varied entry and exit conditions. The functional length of this tip is 0.3438 inches, suited to shallow-depth replaceable-tip drilling configurations typical of high-volume steel machining cells.
Designed for use with KSEM modular drill bodies accepting Insert Seat Size 1. ISO Number for this tip is KSEM0688HP. Compatible primary workpiece material is steel (ISO code P). Coolant-through delivery is not supported by this tip configuration.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. The machine spindle must be fully stopped and the tool assembly secured before seating or removing the tip. Clamp torque should follow the KSEM holder manufacturer specifications provided with the drill body - do not estimate torque values. Inspect the seat pocket for chips or damage before installing a new tip, as seat contamination will affect runout and drill performance.
