The KENNAMETAL 2047414 is a replaceable drill tip in the KSEM series, designed for use with compatible KSEM modular drill bodies. This solid carbide tip features a 0.6563-inch cutting diameter, a 140-degree point angle, and an HP insert geometry optimized for through-hole and inclined-exit drilling applications. The tip is coated with TiAlN via a PVD process, providing thermal resistance and extended tool life when drilling steel. It uses a clamp-style insert holding method and seats in a Size 1 insert seat. Licensed metalworking and machining professionals install and exchange these tips as part of a modular tooling system.
This drill tip is intended for machining ferrous workpiece materials, primarily steel, consistent with ISO material group P. The KSEM0656HP geometry features a 2-flute, 2-margin helical flute configuration and a regular spiral type. Typical applications include through-hole drilling, inclined-exit drilling, and stacked-plate drilling operations on machining centers and CNC turning equipment. The functional length is 0.328 inches with an 8.00 mm flute length. This tip is suited for production environments where modular drill systems are used to reduce cycle time and simplify tip replacement without removing the drill body from the spindle.
Designed for use with KSEM series modular drill bodies that accept a Size 1 insert seat and the KSEM0656HP tip style. Confirm seat size and series compatibility with the drill body before ordering.
Tip exchange should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and the machine placed in a safe, locked-out state. Use the appropriate torque driver or clamp tool specified for the KSEM system to seat the tip correctly - do not over-tighten or use improvised tools. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before installing a new tip, as contamination can affect runout and tip seating. Follow the machine tool manufacturer and tooling system guidelines for speeds, feeds, and coolant setup before resuming operation.
