The KENNAMETAL 2036903 is a carbide replaceable tip drill in the KSEM series, designed for high-performance drilling in steel and similar workpiece materials. The tip carries grade KC7315 fine-grain solid carbide with a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process. It features a 140-degree included point angle, helical fluting with 2 flutes and 2 margins, and a standard point geometry. The cutting diameter is 23 mm (0.9055 inches) with a functional length of 0.4528 inches. The insert is held by a clamp mechanism and seats in a size-4 insert seat. Licensed HVAC and metalworking trade personnel use this style of drill for production and maintenance machining operations.
This replaceable tip drill is suited for steel drilling applications in production machining environments, including drilling into inclined exit surfaces and stacked plate configurations. The KSEM platform uses a modular tip-and-body system, allowing the solid carbide tip to be swapped without discarding the steel drill body. The HP insert geometry and regular spiral flute design support chip evacuation in through-hole and blind-hole applications in steel. It does not include through-coolant capability, so external or flood coolant delivery should be planned for heat management in longer-run operations.
Designed as a replaceable tip insert for KSEM-series drill bodies accepting size-4 insert seats with HP geometry. Compatible with steel as the primary workpiece material (ISO material code P).
Installation and tool changes should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician with the spindle fully stopped and machine in a locked-out, de-energized state. Use the appropriate torque wrench and clamp screw tool as specified by the KSEM body documentation when seating the carbide tip. Do not force the tip into the seat; verify proper seating before applying clamp torque. This drill does not support through-coolant, so verify that external coolant coverage is adequate for the intended material and feed rate.
