The KENNAMETAL 2036606 is a carbide replaceable tip drill from the KSEM series, designed for high-performance drilling in steel and similar ferrous workpiece materials. The solid carbide tip carries a KC7315 fine grain grade and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, providing wear resistance and thermal stability under demanding cutting conditions. The drill features a 140-degree included angle with a standard point type and helical flutes in a regular spiral configuration. With a cutting diameter of 15mm (0.5906 inches) and a flute length of 7mm (0.2756 inches), it is suited for precision hole-making where controlled chip evacuation and edge integrity are required. The tip is retained by a clamp-style insert holding method for secure, repeatable positioning.
This replaceable tip drill is intended for machining applications where steel is the primary workpiece material, classified under ISO material code P. The HP insert geometry is engineered for inclined entry and exit drilling as well as stacked plate drilling operations, making it practical in structural fabrication, general machining, and manufacturing environments where interrupted cuts or angled surfaces are encountered. The KSEM platform is a common choice for CNC machining centers and horizontal boring mills where quick tip replacement reduces downtime without sacrificing positional accuracy.
Designed as a replaceable tip for KSEM series drill bodies accepting insert seat size A. Compatible tip is identified by ISO number KSEM1500HPM. Confirm body series and seat size before ordering.
Installation and tip replacement should be performed by a qualified machinist or tooling technician. Ensure the drill body is fully removed from the spindle and the machine is powered down and locked out before replacing the tip. Use the appropriate torque wrench and KSEM clamping hardware as specified by the drill body manufacturer — do not overtighten or substitute fasteners. Verify tip seating and runout with an indicator before resuming production cuts.
