The KENNAMETAL 1953349 is an indexable internal grooving toolholder designed for precision groove turning operations in bores and internal diameters. Built to the A-A4E toolholder style, it accepts A4..05.. series inserts secured by a clamp-style holding method. The shank measures 10 inches in overall length with a 1.25-inch diameter, and the tool delivers a maximum depth of cut of 0.63 inches. Through-coolant capability is integrated into the body, directing cutting fluid directly to the cutting zone to improve chip evacuation and extend insert life. Constructed from steel, this right-hand holder is suited for CNC turning centers and boring bar applications where groove geometry and bore access are critical.
This toolholder is intended for internal grooving applications in machining environments where minimum hole diameter access starts at 1.732 inches. It supports a maximum bore depth of 2.52 inches and maintains a back-of-bar to cutting edge distance of 1.023 inches, with a center-to-cutting-edge measurement of 1.024 inches. The minimum groove width capability is 0.197 inches (5.00 mm), making it applicable for narrow internal groove profiles. It is suited for use on CNC lathes and turning centers in production and job-shop environments. This is a multi-use tool compatible with the A4 series insert platform.
Compatible with A4..05.. series inserts. Insert seat size is 5, and the holder is built on the A4 series platform. Minimum hole diameter for engagement is 1.732 inches.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and locked out before mounting or indexing the toolholder. Confirm insert seating and clamp torque per the insert manufacturer's tooling documentation before beginning a cut. Verify through-coolant supply line connection and pressure compatibility with the machine tool's coolant system before operation.
