The KENNAMETAL 1953343 is an indexable internal grooving toolholder designed for precision groove cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the A-A4E toolholder style, it accepts A4..04.. series inserts and features a clamp-style insert holding method for rigid, repeatable edge positioning. The toolholder includes through-coolant capability, directing fluid directly to the cutting zone to extend insert life and improve chip evacuation in deep internal groove applications. With a maximum depth of cut of 0.394 inches and a minimum groove width of 0.157 inches, this holder is suited for fine-tolerance internal grooving work performed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This toolholder is configured for right-hand cutting and is intended for internal grooving operations where the minimum hole diameter is 1.26 inches. The overall length of 8.02 inches and a back-of-bar to cutting edge distance of 0.669 inches make it compatible with standard gang-tooled or turret-mounted setups. Maximum bore depth reaches 1.97 inches, supporting a range of internal groove depths on steel, alloy, and similar machinable workpiece materials. It is a multi-use tool suitable for recurring production runs or one-off turning operations requiring consistent groove geometry.
Compatible with A4..04.. series inserts. Insert seat size is 4. Minimum hole diameter for use is 1.26 inches. Designed as an OEM-style internal grooving toolholder for use on CNC lathes and turning centers configured for right-hand internal grooving operations.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC setup technician. Confirm the machine spindle and turret are fully powered down and locked out before mounting or adjusting the toolholder. Verify coolant line connections are secure before enabling through-coolant flow. Follow the machine tool manufacturer guidelines and applicable shop safety procedures when setting tool offsets and runout.
