The KENNAMETAL 1952762 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Carrying the G300GMP insert style in the KC5010 grade, it features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process for enhanced wear resistance and thermal stability at elevated cutting speeds. The insert delivers a 3 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 3.5 mm, with a corner radius of 0.40 mm for controlled edge geometry. A positive rake angle and the GMP chip breaker promote efficient chip evacuation during grooving passes. This insert is installed by CNC machinists and toolroom technicians working in production and job-shop environments.
The 1952762 is suited for grooving applications in both metric and inch-based setups, consistent with Series A4 toolholders. The GMP chip breaker geometry is optimized for medium to fine grooving passes in steel, stainless steel, and similar workpiece materials covered by material grades C3 and C4. With an overall length of 0.7874 inches, the insert seats into compatible A4-series grooving holders for repeatable positioning. Multi-use capability allows the insert to be indexed or repositioned where tool geometry permits, extending usable service life per piece. This makes it practical for medium-volume production runs where consistent groove geometry and dimensional accuracy are required.
Designed for use with Series A4 grooving toolholders. Compatible with setups referencing catalog number A4G0300M03P04GMP. Suitable for material grades C3 and C4 workpiece classifications.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. The machine spindle must be stopped and the turret fully indexed and locked before seating or removing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or clamp-screw driver specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the insert clamp to the correct seating torque per the toolholder documentation. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating to ensure proper insert contact and prevent premature edge failure.
