The KENNAMETAL 1952760 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external grooving and parting operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Running in the A4 series with the GMP chip breaker geometry, this insert features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, delivering improved wear resistance and heat resistance at the cutting edge. The insert has a 3.00 mm cutting width and a maximum depth of cut of 3.50 mm. The KC5010 grade is a PVD-coated carbide grade suited for a range of ferrous and non-ferrous workpiece materials. Neutral hand orientation makes this insert compatible with standard grooving toolholders without directional restriction. Installation and use are handled by machinists and CNC tooling technicians in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is intended for grooving, parting, and light turning applications on turning centers and manual lathes equipped with compatible A4-series grooving toolholders. It performs well in applications requiring tight groove width tolerances and controlled chip evacuation. The GMP chip breaker geometry supports positive-rake cutting action, helping manage chip flow during moderate-depth grooving passes. Material grades C3 and C4 indicate suitability for cast iron and general-purpose machining applications at a range of cutting speeds.

Insert seating and clamping should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Ensure the toolholder pocket and clamping screw are free of chips and debris before seating the insert. Apply the manufacturer-recommended clamping torque for the toolholder series as specified in the toolholder documentation — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can fracture under excessive clamping stress.
