The KENNAMETAL 1940965 is a DNMG432RP KC5010 solid carbide turning insert coated with TiAlN via a PVD process. Designed for the KENLOC toolholding system, this insert features a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a negative rake and neutral hand orientation. The inscribed circle measures 0.5 inches, insert length is approximately 1.22 inches (15.5 mm), and the corner radius is 0.03 inches (1/32 inch). The KC5010 grade delivers high wear resistance with moderate toughness, making it well suited for demanding roughing and medium machining operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, and superalloys. Qualified CNC machinists and tool-and-die professionals are the primary installers.
This insert is built for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations. The RP chip breaker geometry is optimized for roughing and medium machining, providing effective chip control across a broad range of workpiece materials including steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous alloys (N), and superalloys and titanium (S). The maximum depth of cut is 0.05 inches (1.25 mm). With four usable cutting edges and compatibility with both clamp and pin holding methods, it offers solid economy in high-volume production environments.
Designed for use in KENLOC-series toolholders that accept DNMG432 (ANSI) or DNMG150408 (ISO) inserts with clamp or pin holding. Verify toolholder pocket geometry and insert seating before use.
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Seat the insert fully in the pocket and verify clamp or pin engagement before resuming cuts. Do not exceed the recommended depth of cut for the application, and inspect the cutting edge condition regularly to prevent tool failure.
