The KENNAMETAL 1937565 is a solid carbide boring insert designed for precision internal turning and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. Featuring the WPGT insert style with an 80-degree trigon shape and KC5010 manufacturer grade, this insert is built from micrograin carbide and coated with TiAlN via a PVD process. The TiAlN coating provides thermal resistance and wear protection suited for dry and semi-dry cutting conditions. With a 0.004-inch corner radius and an 11-degree relief angle, this insert delivers accurate edge geometry for finishing passes in bores and internal profiles. The UF chipbreaker geometry supports controlled chip formation in light to medium cuts.
This boring insert is used in precision machining applications where consistent bore geometry and surface finish are required. It fits standard WPGT-style boring bar pockets and is appropriate for machining ferrous metals, cast iron, and similar materials. The KC5010 grade and PVD TiAlN coating make it well suited for high-speed finishing at moderate feed rates. Machinists and CNC operators in production shops, job shops, and maintenance machining environments will find this insert applicable to tight-tolerance internal diameter work.
Designed for use in WPGT-style insert pockets on boring bars and boring heads that accept 1/4-inch inscribed circle, 3/32-inch thick trigon inserts. Specific machine and toolholder compatibility should be verified against the toolholder manufacturer specifications.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC operator. Power down and lock out the spindle before seating or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and manufacturer-specified fastener for the boring bar pocket to avoid insert rocking or seat damage. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping surfaces for chips or contamination before seating the new insert.
