The KENNAMETAL 1937512 is a CDHH-style carbide turning insert designed for precision external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. It features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which provides thermal resistance and extended tool life when cutting steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium. The insert carries manufacturer grade KC5010 and is configured for left-hand cutting with a positive rake geometry and 15-degree relief angle. The 80-degree diamond shape delivers a strong cutting edge geometry suitable for moderate to finish-depth turning passes. Screw-on holding method ensures secure seating in compatible toolholders.
This insert is intended for use in production turning environments where P, M, and S workpiece material groups are encountered. Typical applications include finish and semi-finish turning of steel and stainless steel components, as well as light cuts on superalloys and titanium alloys. The CDHH style and screw-on series mount make it a standard choice for toolholders designed around ISO and ANSI insert standards. It is used by machinists and CNC operators in job shop and production environments requiring consistent, repeatable cutting performance.
Designed for use in CDHH-style screw-on toolholders conforming to ANSI and ISO standards for 80-degree diamond inserts with a 5/32 inch inscribed circle. Compatible primary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), superalloys, and titanium (S). Secondary compatible material codes include N, P, and S.
Installation should be performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician with the machine in a stopped, locked-out state before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key to seat the screw-on fastener to the toolholder manufacturer's recommended specification. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before seating a new insert, as contamination will affect insert orientation and surface finish. Do not exceed the maximum depth of cut of 0.0492 inches per pass for this insert size.
