The KENNAMETAL 1918803 is an SM-style shim designed for use with indexable shell mill tool holders. Shims in indexable milling systems serve as precision seating components, positioning the insert pocket at the correct depth and angle to maintain cutting geometry and protect the tool body from direct contact with the cutting insert. This shim is manufactured to OEM tolerances for the KENNAMETAL indexable shell mill platform. Installation is typically performed by machinists, toolroom technicians, and CNC setup personnel during insert changes or tool reconditioning. The part ships individually but is sold in a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
This shim is intended for indexable shell mill configurations requiring the SM shim style. It seats beneath the cutting insert in the pocket of the tool body, absorbing cutting forces and preventing pocket wear. Verified compatible tool holders include: 80A06RS45SE14EG, KSSISR315SE44345C4, KSSISR315SE44345M4, KSSISR394SE44345C5, KSSISR394SE44345M5, KSSISR492SE44345C6, KSSISR492SE44345M6, KSSISR630SE44345C6, KSSISR630SE44345M6, KSSISR787SE44345C10, and KSSISR787SE44345M10. These are standard KENNAMETAL shell mill bodies used in face milling and shoulder milling applications on machining centers and manual mills.
Verified compatible with the following KENNAMETAL shell mill tool holders: 80A06RS45SE14EG, KSSISR315SE44345C4, KSSISR315SE44345M4, KSSISR394SE44345C5, KSSISR394SE44345M5, KSSISR492SE44345C6, KSSISR492SE44345M6, KSSISR630SE44345C6, KSSISR630SE44345M6, KSSISR787SE44345C10, and KSSISR787SE44345M10.
Shim replacement is performed by qualified toolroom or CNC setup personnel. Before servicing any indexable tool holder, ensure the spindle is fully stopped, locked out, and all stored energy is released per facility lockout/tagout procedures. Use proper torx or hex drivers at the manufacturer-specified insert clamping sequence when reseating inserts after shim replacement. Inspect the pocket surface for debris or damage before installing the new shim to ensure correct seating.
