The KENNAMETAL 1914363 is a solid carbide grooving insert designed for precision external and face grooving operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. Built to the NG4250 insert style within the Top Notch series, it carries a TiAlN coating applied via a PVD process, which provides thermal resistance and extended tool life in ferrous and hardened materials. The insert has a left-hand orientation, a 0.25-inch (6.35 mm) cutting width, and a maximum depth of cut of 0.25 inches (6.35 mm). The corner radius measures 0.57 mm and the rake angle is neutral, supporting consistent chip control across a range of grooving applications.
This insert is suited for production and job-shop turning environments where repeatable groove geometry is required. The Top Notch platform is commonly used in residential and commercial machining facilities for part families involving O-ring grooves, undercuts, and snap-ring slots. The KC5025 grade, with a material grade rating of C2 and C6, is selected for interrupted cuts and applications requiring toughness combined with wear resistance. Licensed machinists and CNC operators in precision manufacturing, aerospace component work, and general metalworking will find this insert appropriate for moderate to high-volume grooving runs.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement insert for Top Notch series grooving toolholders accepting NG-style inserts with an insert seat size of 4 and an included angle of 55 degrees. Confirm toolholder compatibility with the NG4250 insert designation before installation.
This insert is installed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Disengage the machine spindle and confirm the turret is fully indexed and locked before seating or replacing any insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to the toolholder manufacturer torque specification noted in the toolholder documentation - do not over-torque the clamping screw. Inspect the insert seat for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper seating and accurate geometry.
