The KENNAMETAL 1913494 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in demanding shop and field applications. Built from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN finish, this bit delivers hardness and heat resistance well beyond standard high-speed steel tooling. The 140-degree split point reduces thrust and minimizes walking on entry, making it well-suited for production drilling in ferrous materials. At 10.00 mm in diameter with an overall length of 89.00 mm and a flute length of 47.00 mm, the stub-length profile provides rigidity and reduces deflection in short-reach setups. Licensed machinists, toolroom techs, and CNC operators are the primary users.
This drill bit is designed for cutting cast iron and steel in production and job-shop environments. The straight cylindrical shank fits standard drill chucks and collet systems without modification. The stub length profile makes it appropriate for drill presses, machining centers, and CNC lathes where minimal overhang is needed. The web-thinned geometry reduces cutting resistance and improves chip evacuation in blind and through-hole applications. It does not support coolant-through delivery, so external flood or mist cooling should be used when drilling deep or interrupted cuts in harder steels.
Designed for use in cast iron and steel workpieces. Compatible with standard straight-shank drill chucks and collet holders sized for a 10.00 mm shank diameter. Part of the Kennametal Series B966 carbide drill program.
Ensure the machine spindle and chuck are fully powered down and locked out before loading or removing the bit. Seat the straight shank fully into the chuck or collet and verify runout before cutting. Because this bit does not support coolant-through delivery, apply adequate external coolant to manage heat buildup, particularly in continuous or deep-hole operations. Follow shop-standard speeds and feeds for solid carbide tooling in cast iron and steel to avoid premature edge failure.
