The KENNAMETAL 1913492 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-productivity drilling in metalworking applications. Built from solid carbide and coated with a multilayer TiAlN finish, it delivers heat resistance and extended tool life compared to standard HSS tooling. The bit measures 9.50 mm in diameter with a 140-degree split point and an overall length of 89.00 mm, keeping it compact for short-hole drilling cycles. A web-thinned, parallel web configuration reduces thrust and improves chip evacuation. This bit is installed by machinists and CNC operators working in production environments where consistent hole quality and tool longevity are critical.
This drill bit is suited for drilling cast iron and steel in screw machine, CNC lathe, and drill press applications where a stub-length tool is preferred for rigidity. The straight cylindrical shank accepts standard drill chucks and collet systems. The Series B966 designation follows DIN 6537K specification, making it a direct fit in shops running metric tooling programs. Maximum drilling depth is 35.00 mm, appropriate for through-hole and blind-hole work in short-to-medium workpiece thicknesses.
Designed for use in cast iron and steel workpieces. The straight cylindrical shank diameter of 10.00 mm fits standard drill chucks and collet holders compatible with that shank size. Suitable for screw machines, CNC turning centers, drill presses, and machining centers running metric tooling to DIN 6537K standards.
Secure the shank fully in a properly sized chuck or collet to the recommended engagement depth before operation. Ensure spindle runout is within tolerance to preserve the drill bit diameter tolerance of plus 0.006 to plus 0.021 mm. Coolant through is not available on this tool, so adequate external coolant or cutting fluid should be applied when drilling steel at higher feed rates. Inspect the cutting edges before each use and remove from service at the first sign of chipping or excessive wear.
