The KENNAMETAL 1913488 is a screw machine length drill bit engineered for high-performance drilling in cast iron and steel. Built from solid carbide with a multilayer TiAlN coating, it delivers the hardness and thermal resistance needed for demanding production environments. The bit measures 8.50 mm in diameter with an overall length of 89.00 mm and features a 140-degree split point geometry with web thinning for reduced thrust and improved centering. Right-hand cutting, two-flute spiral configuration, and a straight cylindrical shank round out the design. This bit is installed by machinists, tool-and-die professionals, and maintenance mechanics working in metal fabrication shops.
The 1913488 is suited for screw machine applications and general drilling operations in ferrous workpiece materials including cast iron and steel. Its shortened overall length relative to jobber-length drill bits provides increased rigidity and reduced deflection, making it appropriate for close-tolerance hole production. The straight-cylindrical shank accommodates standard drill chucks and collet systems. Maximum recommended drilling depth is 35.00 mm, and the flute length is 47.00 mm. The bit conforms to DIN 6537K geometry standards, supporting use in environments where dimensional compliance is required.
Designed as an OEM-style replacement or direct substitute for solid carbide screw machine drill bits in Series B966 conforming to DIN 6537K. Compatible with standard drill chucks and collet systems accepting a 10.00 mm straight-cylindrical shank.
Installation and use of this tool is performed by qualified machinists or maintenance technicians familiar with machine tool operation. Power down and lock out the spindle before securing or removing the bit from the chuck or collet. Verify shank seating and runout before commencing drilling operations. Do not exceed the recommended maximum drilling depth of 35.00 mm in a single pass without appropriate pecking cycles to clear chips.
