The KENNAMETAL 1875143 is a left-hand DWLN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for negative rake turning operations on the lathe. Part of the Kenclamp series, it accepts WN..43 series inserts held by a top-clamp method, providing secure insert seating under heavy interrupted and continuous cuts. The shank measures 1 inch wide by 1 inch tall with an overall length of 6 inches, fitting standard OD turning positions on engine lathes and CNC turning centers. The head length is 1 inch, and the back-of-bar to cutting edge distance is 1.25 inches. Machinists and tool-room technicians working with steel and general-purpose materials will find this holder a direct, catalog-grade solution for external turning setups requiring left-hand approach angles.
This toolholder is suited for external turning applications where a left-hand cutting direction is required, such as facing toward the tailstock or turning toward a shoulder from the left. The 5-degree lead angle and negative rake geometry reduce cutting forces on the insert, making it effective for harder workpiece materials and heavier depths of cut. It is used on both manual engine lathes and CNC turning centers in job shops, maintenance facilities, and production environments. No coolant-through capability is present, so external coolant delivery should be arranged through the machine or a supplemental nozzle.
Compatible with WN..43 series indexable inserts (complete insert compatibility: WN.. 432) having a 0.5 inch (1/2 inch) inscribed circle. Designed as an OEM-style Kenclamp series holder for standard square-shank OD turning positions on engine lathes and CNC turning centers.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Ensure the lathe or turning center is fully powered down and the spindle is locked before mounting or removing the toolholder from the turret or tool block. Torque the tool block clamping fasteners according to the machine manufacturer's specification. Confirm insert seating and clamp engagement before resuming any cutting operations.
