The KENNAMETAL 1875142 is a left-hand DCLN-style indexable turning toolholder designed for negative-rake external turning operations on CNC and manual lathes. Part of the Kenclamp series, it uses a clamp-style insert holding method to secure CN..43. series inserts firmly under cutting loads. The shank measures 0.75 inches wide by 0.75 inches tall, and the overall length is 4.5 inches. A head length of 1.25 inches and a back-of-bar-to-cutting-edge distance of 1 inch provide consistent tool reach and positioning. The body is constructed from steel for rigidity and dimensional stability under repeated use. Licensed machinists and CNC setup technicians are the primary installers of this toolholder.
This toolholder is suited for external turning applications where a left-hand tool path is required, such as turning toward the tailstock or machining right-hand shoulders. The 5-degree lead angle promotes controlled chip flow and reduces radial cutting forces during roughing and finishing passes. It accepts CN..43. series inserts with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, giving the technician a wide selection of carbide and coated insert grades. This holder is appropriate for use in production turning cells, job shop lathes, and turret tooling setups in both light and moderate-duty steel and cast iron applications.
Compatible with CN..43. series inserts, with complete insert compatibility listed as CN.. 432. Verify insert size and grade selection against the cutting application and workpiece material before installation.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret or tool post is locked out before mounting or removing the toolholder. Torque the clamp screw to the insert manufacturer's recommended procedure using appropriate hex keys. Confirm tool centerline height and overhang are within machine and insert manufacturer guidelines before initiating a cut.
