The KENNAMETAL 1875140 is a right-hand DDJN-style negative rake indexable turning toolholder designed for precision external turning operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers. Part of the Kenclamp series, it accepts DN..43. style inserts secured with a top-clamp holding method, providing rigid and repeatable insert positioning. The toolholder features a 1 x 1 inch square shank, a 5-inch overall length, and a 1.25-inch head length. Constructed from steel, it delivers the rigidity required for stable metal removal under negative rake cutting conditions. This toolholder is installed by machinists and toolroom technicians in production and job-shop turning applications.
The 1875140 is suited for external turning on ferrous and non-ferrous workpieces where negative rake insert geometry is preferred for interrupted cuts or harder materials. The 3-degree lead angle and 1.25-inch back-of-bar-to-cutting-edge dimension position the insert for effective chip control and consistent surface finish. This toolholder is used in both manual and CNC lathe setups where a square-shank tool post or wedge-lock turret accommodates a 1 x 1 inch shank profile. No coolant-through capability is present on this holder.
Designed to accept DN..43. style inserts with a 0.5-inch inscribed circle, compatible with DN.. 432 insert designation per Kennametal specifications. Fits standard 1 x 1 inch square-shank tool posts and turret pockets.
Installation is performed by a machinist or toolroom technician. Secure the toolholder firmly in the lathe turret or tool post before mounting an insert. Power down and lock out the lathe spindle before changing inserts or repositioning the holder. Follow machine tool manufacturer torque guidelines for clamp screws and turret bolts — do not over-torque the Kenclamp clamping screw.
