The KENNAMETAL 1871193 is a solid carbide turning insert in the DPMT2151UF geometry, coated with TiAlN via a PVD process and graded KC5010. It is a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape designed for finishing operations on a screw-on toolholder. The insert measures 7.75 mm (0.6104 inches) in length with a 1/4-inch inscribed circle and a 1/64-inch (0.0156-inch) corner radius. The UF chip breaker geometry, positive rake angle of 5 degrees, and honed cutting edge work together to deliver high wear resistance across a broad range of workpiece materials. Licensed machinists and CNC turning operators install this insert in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications. Its KC5010 grade is optimized for high wear-resistance through moderate wear-resistance and toughness when cutting steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium. The positive side clearance and 11-degree relief angle reduce cutting forces and support smooth surface finishes in finishing-pass applications. It conforms to ANSI insert code DPMT2151 and ISO insert code DPMT070204, making it a standard-geometry insert compatible with a wide range of screw-on toolholders used in CNC lathes and turning centers.

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to seat the screw-on insert firmly and evenly against the toolholder pocket; do not overtighten the clamping screw. Inspect the insert seating pocket for chips or debris before installation to ensure proper contact and repeatable tool height.
