Product Description

The KENNAMETAL 1871166 is a CCMT3252UF-geometry solid carbide turning insert coated with TiAlN via PVD process and graded KC5010. It is designed for single-point turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC and manual lathes. The 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape provides a strong cutting edge with a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a 7-degree relief angle. The UF chip breaker geometry targets finishing cuts, with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). Each insert delivers 2 cutting edges and mounts via a screw-on holding method. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production or job-shop environments are the primary installers.

This insert is suited for finishing operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material groups P, M, K, N, and S. The KC5010 grade provides high wear resistance across steel and stainless steel applications, transitioning to moderate toughness where needed. Typical use scenarios include tight-tolerance diameter turning, facing passes, and internal boring on parts requiring fine surface finishes. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to both right- and left-hand toolholders that accept CCMT-style inserts.

Key Features

  • UF chip breaker geometry optimized for finishing cuts with a maximum depth of cut of 1.25 mm
  • TiAlN PVD coating on KC5010 carbide grade for high wear resistance on steel and stainless steel
  • 80-degree diamond insert shape with positive rake and 7-degree relief angle for clean chip evacuation
  • 2 usable cutting edges per insert for extended tooling value
  • Screw-on mounting method for secure, repeatable insert indexing
  • Conforms to ANSI insert code CCMT3252 and ISO insert code CCMT09T308

Compatibility

Designed as an OEM-style screw-on replacement for CCMT3252 and ISO CCMT09T308 geometry toolholders accepting 80-degree diamond carbide inserts in turning, facing, and boring applications.

Installation Notes

Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Always power down and lock out the machine before indexing or replacing inserts. Use the correct torque wrench and insert screw specified by the toolholder manufacturer to seat the insert securely without cracking the carbide. Inspect the toolholder pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before seating a new insert.
