The KENNAMETAL 1870328 is a CPMT32505LF KT315-grade cermet turning insert designed for finishing and light machining operations on steel, stainless steel, and cast iron. The insert features a multilayer PVD coating of TiN/TiCN/TiN, which delivers high wear resistance across all three primary workpiece material categories. It carries an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape with a positive rake angle of 5 degrees and a relief angle of 11 degrees, making it well suited for applications where clean surface finish and tight tolerances are the priority. The corner radius measures 0.0079 inches and the inscribed circle diameter is 0.375 inches. This is a neutral-hand, screw-on style insert with two usable cutting edges per insert.
This insert is appropriate for use in turning, facing, and boring operations on CNC lathes and manual turning centers in both production and job-shop environments. Inspect the insert pocket for chips or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and prevent premature edge failure.
