The KENNAMETAL 1869901 is a solid carbide turning insert with ANSI designation CPGM3252 and ISO designation CPGM09T308, coated with TiAlN via PVD process. It features an 80-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a positive rake angle of 5 degrees, and an 11-degree relief angle with positive side clearance. The KC5010 grade delivers high wear resistance across steel, stainless steel, and cast iron applications. With a honed cutting edge style, 0.0313 inch corner radius, and 0.3808 inch insert length, this insert is engineered for consistent performance in medium machining conditions. It is installed by CNC machinists and toolroom professionals on turning centers, lathes, and boring machines.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, titanium, and cast iron workpieces. The KC5010 PVD-TiAlN coating provides high wear resistance while maintaining moderate toughness, making it effective across a range of cutting conditions from roughing to semi-finish passes. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inch). The neutral hand orientation accommodates both right-hand and left-hand toolholders. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Designed for use in screw-on style CPGM toolholders accepting a 3/8 inch inscribed circle, ANSI size 3252 insert. Suitable for turning, facing, and boring operations. Primary workpiece materials include steel (P), stainless steel (M), cast iron (K), aluminum and non-ferrous (N), and superalloys and titanium (S).
Installation is performed by qualified CNC machinists or toolroom technicians. Power down and lock out the machine before seating or replacing the insert. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to drive the clamping screw to the toolholder manufacturers specified torque — do not overtighten, as carbide inserts are brittle and can crack under excessive clamping force. Verify insert seating and edge condition before resuming cuts.
