The KENNAMETAL 1868463 is a solid carbide turning insert in the TNGP332 geometry, grade KC5010, designed for high-performance metal cutting on CNC lathes and turning centers. It features a 60-degree triangular shape with a negative rake angle and a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, which provides strong oxidation resistance and extended tool life at elevated cutting temperatures. The inscribed circle measures 3/8 inches and the corner radius is 1/32 inches. With six usable cutting edges per insert and a honed cutting edge style, this insert offers consistent performance across turning, facing, and boring operations.
This insert is suited for machining steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium, covering ISO material codes P, M, and S. It is part of the KENLOC series and is held by clamp and pin, making it compatible with standard TNGP-style toolholders. The TNGP332 geometry and KC5010 grade combination is commonly applied in production environments where tool life and surface finish consistency on difficult-to-machine materials are priorities. Licensed machinists and CNC tooling specialists are the primary installers of this insert.
Designed for use in TNGP-style toolholders using clamp and pin holding method within the KENLOC series. Compatible with primary workpiece materials including steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium (ISO codes P, M, S); secondary codes N, P, and S. Material grades C3 and C4 apply.
Installation is performed by a qualified machinist or CNC tooling technician. Ensure the machine spindle is fully stopped and the turret is locked out before indexing or replacing inserts. Inspect the toolholder seat and clamping pin for wear or debris before seating the insert. Follow the toolholder manufacturer torque specifications for the clamping screw; do not overtighten, as this can fracture the carbide substrate.
