The KENNAMETAL 1867051 is a solid carbide turning insert carrying the industry standard designation VBGT2205HP in grade KC5025. It features a TiAlN coating applied via PVD process, a 35-degree diamond (rhombic) insert shape, and a screw-on holding method. The insert delivers moderate wear resistance and toughness across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum, and non-ferrous materials, as well as superalloys and titanium. With a positive rake angle of 15 degrees and a honed cutting edge, it is engineered for finishing operations. Machinists and CNC operators use this insert in production turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications.
This insert is suited for finishing passes on stainless steel and superalloys, though its KC5025 grade also supports work in steel, cast iron, and non-ferrous materials. The HP chip breaker geometry controls chip flow during light to moderate depths of cut. It is intended for use in CNC turning centers and manual lathes where a screw-on VBGT-style toolholder is installed. The neutral hand orientation makes it adaptable to a range of toolholder configurations. Sold individually with a minimum order quantity of 5 units.
Conforms to ANSI insert code VBGT2205 and ISO insert code VBGT110302. Designed for screw-on VBGT-style toolholders per ANSI and ISO standards. Suitable for multi-use turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring applications across steel, stainless steel, cast iron, aluminum and non-ferrous materials, and superalloys and titanium.
Installation is performed by qualified machinists or CNC setup technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before seating or removing inserts. Use the appropriate torx or hex key to secure the clamping screw to the toolholder; do not overtighten. Inspect the insert pocket and seating surface for chips or debris before mounting to ensure proper seating and tool life.
