The KENNAMETAL 1866651 is a solid carbide turning insert with a DCGT3250LF geometry and KC5010 grade, designed for precision finishing and light machining operations on CNC lathes and turning centers. The insert features a PVD-applied TiAlN coating that delivers high wear resistance across a range of workpiece materials. With a 55-degree diamond (rhombic) shape, a 3/8-inch inscribed circle, and a 0.0039-inch corner radius, this insert is optimized for light cuts requiring tight tolerances and fine surface finishes. The neutral hand orientation and screw-on holding method make it compatible with a wide range of DCGT-style toolholders. Installed by machinists and CNC operators in production and job-shop environments.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring operations on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and aluminum. It is appropriate for both residential and commercial machine shop applications where finishing and light machining passes are required. The LF chip breaker geometry is engineered for fine-chip control during light-depth-of-cut operations. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches). This insert meets ANSI and ISO standards, with ANSI code DCGT32502 and ISO code DCGT11T3005.
Designed for use in DCGT-style screw-on toolholders compatible with ANSI size code 32502 and ISO size code 11T3005 inserts. Suitable for multi-use applications including turning, facing, boring, back turning, and back boring on steel, stainless steel, cast iron, superalloys, titanium, and aluminum workpieces.
Installation is performed by machinists or CNC operators following standard insert-change procedures. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before changing inserts. Use the appropriate Torx or hex key as specified by the toolholder manufacturer to secure the screw-on insert clamp. Inspect the insert seat and clamp screw for wear or debris before seating a new insert to ensure proper contact and runout.
