The KENNAMETAL 1866001 is a round carbide turning insert with RCMT10T3M0 geometry, designed for screw-on toolholders in CNC and manual lathe applications. Manufactured to the KC5010 grade, the insert features a TiAlN PVD coating that improves heat resistance and wear life during continuous and interrupted cuts. The 10 mm inscribed circle (0.3937 inches) and full-radius round shape deliver a versatile cutting profile with 4 usable cutting edges per insert. Relief angle is 7 degrees with a positive rake geometry and honed cutting edge style. Licensed machinists and CNC operators working in production turning, facing, and boring operations install this insert in compatible screw-on toolholders.
This insert is suited for turning, facing, and boring operations on steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium workpieces. It performs well in both roughing and finishing passes where a full-radius profile is required. The RCMT10T3M0 geometry follows both ANSI and ISO standards, making it a straightforward drop-in for shops that stock standard screw-on insert tooling. Material grades C3 and C4 cover a broad range of ferrous and difficult-to-machine alloys. Maximum depth of cut is 1.25 mm (0.0492 inches).
Designed for use in screw-on toolholders accepting RCMT10T3M0 geometry inserts per ANSI and ISO standards. Primary workpiece materials are steel, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium; secondary compatibility includes non-ferrous and additional steel and superalloy grades per material codes N, P, and S.
Installation is performed by licensed machinists or CNC tooling technicians. Power down and lock out the machine spindle before indexing or replacing inserts. Secure the insert with the appropriate torx or hex screw to the toolholder seat, ensuring the insert seats fully against the pocket locating surfaces. Inspect the insert pocket and clamping screw for wear or damage before each insert change.
